I got the "oh, oh that's a power steering noise" along with the associated wobbles the other day. Also found a spot on the driveway that the car left - LH side near the tire, before the power steering noise presented itself.
Popped the hood and discovered that the power steering reservoir was bubbling over even though the cap was on. It was seeping around the cap and leaking down the reservoir and onto the control arm and that area of the truck.
Since the fluid was nasty looking, disconnected the return line and flushed the PS utilizing the many directions found on this site.
After that was done it was discovered that the high pressure line (connected with a flared fitting is it?), was loose. The nut is tightened all the way, but the line is loose and can be pulled up about, maybe an eighth or quarter inch and rotated.
Is that how it should be? I would guess that that the high pressure line should be secured. If so, the nut that is tightened all the way has me scratchin my head.
And the PS cap: should'nt it have a gasket or something that prevents bubbling over?
Thanks guys...
FYI - just replaced the belt tensioner because it was making that high pitch whiny sound. Don't think its relevant because the whiny engine noise has been bugging me for about two weeks before the spot on the driveway showed up. But just in case it may be, more info for ya'll.
