Hey all,

I'm havin a really rough time with my steering system... So far, I've replaced the pump 3 times and the rack once... Where is the pressure switch located? That's my next victim... Here's the symptoms: No low pressure power steering, SOME pressure at and above 1,500 RPM... Any ideas?

There is no electrical switch that is used to determine system pressure. Pressure is determined by the flow-piston (inside the pump) which has a simple mechanical pressure regulator consisting of a spring and a ball bearing. If you've replaced the pump (as you did 3 times already), then the pressure regulator was also replaced since it is inside the pump. So having said that, ensure that you properly bleed the system after replacing components and that the pump is not being starved of fluid.

I had the same problem, replace your high pressure power steering line and that weird coupling while you're at it. I'll see if I can find a picture.

This hose, be careful with the orings and teflon rings, very important for it to not leak and lose your low idle steering.

wow... the high pressure hose is bad? okay, any idea where I can get ahold of the 18mm crows foot for the lines? Thanks man... so is this the only SUV that don't have a PSPS?
