my pump recently pissed all it's fluid away, then seized up my belt. It sucked but i walked a couple of miles to get off the interstate and called for a ride. I went back to get it and undid my belt. WHAT A DIFFERENCE in Power. I've got 2 questions

How difficult is it to remove and replace a powerstering pump?

and how difficult is it to remove my ac compressor, and what would i need?

(ps. I'm kindda an instant gratification type guy)

I just replaced mine about a week ago. Took about and hour or two but thats just because beer and bs were involved lol. anyway you have to have a pully puller that you can get for free at autozone(deposite required but you get it back). as far as the a/c compressor I have mine unplugged for now but get with the guys at ford or autozone and get a new serpentine belt that is smaller. later, mike

You don't need to remove the compressor totally to replace the ps pump. Just unbolt and carefully tie up high enough to get bracket that holds pump out. There is not enough room in my 91 to get the pulley off the pump. Maybe there is for you.

I did mine a different way then everyone else. I left the a/c compressor in there completely, didn't even loosen it up... I removed hte pully while it was still in the vehicle (using the hand power steering pump pulley remover from autozone) then remove the ps pump from the vehicle, put int he new one, tightened it into place, and then put on the pully again using the same tool.

I had to loosen up the three bolts that hold the pump in the bracket first then i could get the puller on with enough room to clear the radiator. still kind of a pain in the ass but have a beer or two and things fall together lol. later, mike
