Power window switch??

When I bought my X, the rear passenger window switch was missing. Obviously the window didn't work. I bought a new one and installed. It still doesn't work, but I can hear the motor working when I push the switch up/down?? The window does not manually by force go down, so I believe it's not off track. Maybe the cable broke? Not sure why previous owner removed switch.....maybe to avoid a short it was causing?? Any help appreciated!!

Might want to read through this thread. Similar problem but stuck in down instead of up. If a cable is broken it's an easy thing to change the window regulator. Links on this thread should help you purchase a new one.
