This is a very intriguing concept, I'm interested as well. I've read some reviews on the basslink, people have been saying your not going to get mirror shaking, brain rattling bass, but it might be perfect to just round out an aftermarket setup.

Has anyone purchased the infinity, if so, what are your thoughts? I like the setup for the form factor, curious though if the rear seats cam still fold down with the infinity underneath.

Here is an awesome setup by chad551

This is the ideal install, but the infinity could be a nice drop in, plug and play enhancement, and with that sub $200 amazon price, might be a viable option

well, i ordered one from amazon today. i chose the first gen basslink for the size even though it's less power than the basslink ii. i'll let everyone know how the install goes once i receive it.

i'm hoping it will round out my current setup nicely. i liked the spec on the basslink better than the basslink ii to still have someone be able to sit in the rear passenger seat.

basslink:
Dimensions (L x W x H): 14-1/2" x 12-1/2" x 8-1/2"
(369mm x 318mm x 216mm)

basslink ii:
Dimensions (L x W x H): 15-1/16" x 8-3/4" x 15-5/16"
(383mm x 223mm x 389mm)

will be adding to my current setup:

pioneer avh-p3200dvd
front and rear polk 570's

i definitely know it's not the ideal install, like chad551, or TheGDog/Adrenalin22's on mysporttrac.com (and so many others), but it might be a good option for a drop in solution.

i'll keep everyone posted...

I was looking at one, seemed by the amazon reviews that they last 2-ish years then the amp lets go. But, by then you're probably going to be upgrading/replacing anyway. The reviews on Amazon are great for performance, and the lower star reviews all deal with the longevity of the unit's life...

Let me know your guys Power wire /remote wire/ ground wiring experiences with these too. I never look forward to trying to hide that damn power wire all the way through the cab :)

Usually run the power wire and remote wire on opposite sides of the truck, under the kickplates by the doors...

that's a great tip joe_dirt, i've run them together before (remote/power) but routing them to different sides of the truck might eliminate a little noise. i mean everything is insulated and with some loom, should be isolated, but every little bit counts i'm sure!

to be honest, i normally just grab a ground from an unpainted part of the chassis closest to the amp, trunk, or in this case under the rear passenger seat somewhere.

i'm sure there will be some room under the side kick plates, or possibly straight back through the center console, i know there is a lot of room there, i agree with josh, it's always install day adventures!

I got the Infinity Basslink in and installed over the weekend. To my surprise it's actually two 10" subs on each side of the unit.

The install was by far the easiest I've done on any vehicle. On the sport tracs you can pop off the drive side floor/kick plates as well as the running board door plates (just compression clips). There are existing wiring trays right underneath the plates, so no need to find a spot to squish it through and hope it doesn't rub away the rubber coating. I used a snake and starting from the rear and ran it up the trays, once out the front, just tape on your wire and gently pull back through. I ran the power on the driver side, and the RCA and Remote wire on passenger side. The ground can be used anywhere underneath the seat, the body/frame is right there. I used the torque bolt for the seatbelt clip, just make sure to scrape up any existing paint to give you a good ground contact.

As far as the space of the basslink I would recommend against it. It is just a bit too big for under the seat. I had to unbolt the seat to slide it in, and then bolt it back down, it's not an exact fit and does push the seat up. There isn't any issue with leg room for the rear passenger side rider, but the seat is not very comfortable and feels like your up in the ceiling.

It's in there, and is great, I'm surprised with the bass output. But if this thing ever goes dead, I think I'll be opting for a custom-made box with an amp under the rear driver side.

100 for the box, maybe 200ish for a sub, and probably 200ish for an amp to power it...I mean it's 300 more than I paid, but if it fits correctly, I would go that route.

Hope you got a warranty with it, the one I have installed in the Focus died 1 month after the 12 mo. warranty expired, loved it though...

I'm not sure about the warranty, I hope so too. I bought it off Amazon, but in the packaging there is a warranty card, I'll have to check it out, hopefully just have to register it with them to activate the warranty.

After a couple of days of use I like the basslink a lot, it's plenty of bass for what I need and rounds out the system nice. I would recommend using the remote wire and an aftermarket head unit to turn the basslink on/off though. Infinity included a feature where you can "autosense" signals by hooking into your existing factory speakers. But there have been a lot of bad reviews on that, like it takes 10 minutes to turn the sub off when turning your system off. With the remote wire the sub just comes on and off with my head unit.

So far so good on it, it's definitely not the ideal solution, but it's good for now for not too much of an investment, I'll let you guys know about the longevity of it. I think if it fails though, I'll just drop in the correct box from the link above and an amp under the driver side rear seat.
