Well, I just got notice that these stupid JDM Lowering shocks the installer at my shop referred me to won't be coming for another month, so I cancelled. I know Hartman runs (not much longer) KYB MonoMax, some Edelbrock's tuned for lowered X's, and BM runs Bilsteins...

This is merely just something to replace my stock ones, I'm not expecting a better ride at all as far as it being lowered, just something with enough travel I suppose. Some ideas?

Looking to keep this in the $150 range if possible. Thanks!

if you dont care about the ride, jsut do some stock shocks.....

the edelbroack ias are supposed to be good on lowered trucks.... kyb is also good....

Im going to be doing some rancho 9000x's just for the adjustability

I ran Edelbrock on my lowered 99 and it rode like crap, changed to Rancho 9000x and it was much better,

Raised it to stock height and kept ther 9000x shocks and it rides great.

Lowered trucks ride harsh....-

Well I do have a set of Pro Comp ES9000s sitting in my possession, just my installer who's a professional at suspension says they won't travel enough..

Other than that, even just a set of Gabriels or Monroe's could even do..

.....But handle GREAT

Dad's Mounty handles amazing for a truck at stock height. All he has is a EE rear sway bar and Rancho 9000X shocks. Really, I cannot believe how well it handles sweeping corners on the VA backroads

I did not notice any significient difference in handeling with my 99 after bringing it back to stock height from lowered.

I have the 9000x shocks and the X spec sway bar as well as poly bushings.

How's about mpg differences since your frontal area is increased? (wow, Hokie has taken too many engineering classes, its the summer and I just asked a question about front area while thinking about drag coefficients and drag force... stupid Fluid Dynamics class has ruined me ;))

Before buying the EE sway bar and Edelbrock IAS, I did feel a noticeable difference in handling when I went from stock height to 2-2.5 inch lower. Adding the EE sway bar just made it go from good handling to awesome handling. Also, if the stock shocks weren't so bouncy I would've kept them.

I've got doestch drop shocks

I actually went with a complete set of custom DJM Lowering shocks custom made for the truck, with enough travel to keep an adequate ride. Also tossed my aluminum 3" blocks for some steel 3" ones with 3/8 U-bolts, ran me about $400 out the door.

Will see how it goes, they arrive Thurs.

explorerchic, where did you get those shocks and how was the ride? How much were they?

I got them from Zach at ExplorerUnderground for $200 shipped... if you need some more info look me up on AIM: explorerchic2124
