I love the clean look in the bumper. Do you think it would be better output putting it on top of the bumper? I'm envisioning a 40" bar (or whatever is closest to the width of the grille) between the headlights bolted through the top of the bumper some day.

I like the clean look too...a lot.
Higher mounted lights throw a better beam for off roading but where its mounted in the bumper works great. I used to have mine in the grill, and found them to work just fine but moved them to roof top for better throw and coverage, but no where as clean looking as yours!!

40" will be wider than the grille...looking at mine through the window right now (20" on the bumper, 40" on top)...IIRC there are 30" bars out there that would fit the width of the grille (if you want pics of the 40 and 20 mounted, they're in my build thread)...the higher the light, the less things that will be in the way of the beam and the more it will cover...
Back to this truck...I really like that bar in the bumper!! It looks really clean! Every time I read this build, I get more ideas in my head for when/if I ever get to a pre-runner build myself...great job!

I put it in the bumper so that it is more of a DD/mild off road set up. I have a rack with 4 Hellas 4000's that is on my list to mount. Those suckers are brighter, and shine further than any light bar I've ever seen.

Been working on a buddies truck, so not much has happened lately. I dropped the ride height a bit, and I'm about to dial in some 7/8 heims for the steering, also picked up some seats. Just doing small stuff to prep for desert season. Bronco is back there and jealous!

Just heim outers for now. I'm running bronco tie rods, the driver side (shorter) one is actually a lot longer than the stock Explorer set up. My bump steer is actually pretty good.

Rolling around on 37's until I do the alignment
Little tough to see, but I re-did the steering with 7/8 heims. It's double nutted for now until I drill out the bolt for a cotter pin.

I'm really trying to keep a stock feel to it. I will be adding a spare tire carrier at some point
Made a junkyard run for some small parts to clean this thing up. New to me rear hatch gasket, driver door gasket, under hood insulation piece, header panel trim piece, and topped it off with a stock valance for under the front bumper. Loving the stock/built look.

Tailgates you brewed welding. I see a false door or covers . This is for the strength of the body?I'm really trying to keep a stock feel to it. I will be adding a spare tire carrier at some point
