How much should I expect to pay for having my front shocks replaced on 1999 RWD XLT?

what kind of shocks?

yeah, there's a lot of different price points on shocks. it depends how good of a shock you get. the labor shouldn't be too bad (changing a shock is pretty low on the difficulty scale, i'd say a 1 on a scale of 1-10). let's say you chose a medium priced shock at around $30 each, then figure the shop adds 40-60% on top of what they pay for them, and then charges $50-$75 per hour to install all 5 of them with a flat rate of 1 hour. that puts you in the $300 range... that's why i'm glad i can do my own repairs. saves me money big time.

edit: i just realized you only asked about your 2 front shocks - so $120 'ish maybe.

If I can make a suggestion, if you can do the work your self you can afford a real nice shocks. My sensatracs from Monroe where something like $36 a piece, and I do all the work my self, so pretty much the cost of the shocks is all I spent. since you are in the ATL chances are that you don't have nearly as much rust as I had on my old ones, so it shoudl be real easy to do, my took 2 hours because I had to cut them out with an angle grinder that I borrowed from my buddy.

Check sears, they had a deal once where it almost didn't pay to DIY and suffer for 2 hours with rust(I recall a rebate involved). They put in sensatracs.

I did all of mine front and back Monroe sensetracs for $89.00 from advanced with some coupon code I found online took me only an hour. The shop wanted $325.00 for the shocks plus install.
