Ok, well we got back from our trip a few days ago and I know how well my Exploder does towing a light trailer now. All in all I'd say we maybe, had about 2,000lbs. I don't think it was even that much, but I'll overestimate anyways, just so I know that I didn't overload my truck. The load was 3 guys - 175, 215 and 245lbs. 2 dogs - 50 & 85, plus supplies (some firewood, coolers w/ beer, clothes, dog food, tent, boat and motor). It was a flatbottom, seats maybe 4. 5 HP outboard. As far as towing it, it did fine, except on some hills with headwinds, I had once maybe twice where I had to completely floor it to keep speed at 65 w/ O/D off. So I'm just wondering even though it says I have a 3.27 rear end on the placard, if maybe somehow, some way it had been upgraded at some point w/ maybe 3.55 or 3.73. Just curious if that seems like it could have happened w/ a kid from Chicago. I average approximately 2000 RPM at 65 w/ just me in O/D. Just curious, especially since someday I'd like some 31s, I think it'd fill out the wheel wells nicely. And a little more clearance to drive over things. It's always been really quick off the line, now with the BWM it can squeal pretty well with just a good burst of gas. And I've been fairly impressed with its get up and go. But it does have a custom Magnaflow catback and K&N FIPKII. I have another question, but I believe that belongs in another forum. Thanks for any info, I know it's kind of a dumb question, but you never know unless you ask.

It's certainly possible, but I think the only way to really know is to have it checked at a shop, or check it yourself.

Someone else with more rear end experience should be able to tell you more. Good luck, post some pictures of this thing!
 






there should be a tag on the differential, you could take a look at that
 






If the gear ratio has been changed and the tag has not then the tag will not represent the current gear ratio. To check your actual gear ratio:

Block the front wheels, then safely support the back with the tires off the ground. Shift into neutral and verify that the parking brake is off. Use chalk or nail polish or a good marker or a grease pen or whatever to mark the driveshaft against the rear and also each rear tire against the brake plate. Rotate the driveshaft until the tires make exactly one revolution. Count the number of times you rotated the driveshaft. This is your gear ratio. Or:

Remove the differential cover. Count the number of teeth on the (big) ring gear. Divide that by the number of teeth on the (medium sized, rotates at same speed as driveshaft) pinion gear. This is your gear ratio.

axle tag says the same, If that's how it accelerates with those, I can't wait to see how much faster it'll go with 4.10s.
 






I'll probably take a look at the gears when I install my locker. Thanks for the help. Or if I happen to find the time I'll try checking against the tires.
 






If you decide to open the diff to count the teeth, there may be another option. Rather than trying to count, turn the wheels, count, not lose count, turn the wheels, take a look a the ring gear. I counted the teeth on the ring gear in my mustang three times, each time getting a different number, before I realized the ratio was stamped into the side of the ring gear.
 






Counting can also be made easier by marking one tooth with a dab of grease.
