well, i used a siphon pump thing and pumped out my whole tank of gas (which took like an hour) switched all my plugs to new copper ones (i believe they provide more power than the platinums) and then added five gallons of 92 octane and a thing of fuel injector cleaner, unplugged the battery for a while, and tried to fire it up. it started, but i had a check engine light. i let it run for a while and after about five minutes the light went off and everythings been ok since (the check engine light has come on a couple more times but then gone off in a few minutes each time). so i guess they put something in the gas tank- probably h20 by what happened and i guess there will be no long term damage. anything else i should do? or did i cover it? it does seem to run fine now...

anyways, now comes the fun part. i need to smoke a 5.9 limited with full exhaust, a chip, and an intake this spring when the track opens. this needs to be a sure thing (you guys know how it is) i also need to have a reliable daily driver and all that crap as you all know also.

i've been saving up some money to do a little air ride action in the back and the ps2 crap as well, but i think beating this jeep is going to take priority over everything else. what do you guys think? what will it run?

so what are my options?

1. i can leave it as it is and remove as much weight as i can before i go (but i don't want that to not be enough)

2. I can leave the motor as is, do the air ride and ps2 etc. and see if i win but if i don't drop the rear end down, bump some music and laugh at him because i look way phatter.

3. i can try to find a cheap or used (i know some people are selling them) nitrous kit and run as big a shot as i know won't hurt anything. 75 at the most, but even a 35 shot would probably put me in the clear...

of course i don't know how legal nox is in minnesota and i don't want to get in trouble. i also don't know how cheap i can get a set-up that will give me the desired results.

i don't even know how fast i need to go... what will he run? i have run 15.3 without my baumann installed. how much difference do you guys think a 35 shot would make? how much for the 50 shot? keep in mind that i'm awd and he is 2wd.

please help me out here

expo50 lives! glad to hear its working!

personally im not a big fan of nitrous....ive just heard too many stories of it blowing up engines and causing a lot of stress, even when used sparingly. That and it just sort of seems cheating to me, i dunno. You've done so many engine mods though its like either nitrous or a charger is all thats left, and a charger is far from a cheap mod. My other thing about nitrous is that you use it so rarely, it isnt really worth spending a bunch of money for something that usually just sits there.... and buying nitrous just to beat one guy is sort of crazy...

id go for a ps2, and the air ride. I never really understood why people put ps2's in their car, but the screen would def. be cool, and i know u want that air ride for the towing and whatnot. Id try to find a cheap engine mod, but i really cant think of anything to help u out there.....is it expensive to get a port and polish?

Screw the ps2 and air ride, no braggin rights in that.
I think those things run a 14.9 or so but i'm not positive.
I raced one from a stop light all the way till i hit the governer on my x(108mph). I had him by about 3 car lenghts. By no means was it slow, but it also didn't help that my trans shifts into second way to slow for the amount of power i have.

I'd say you'll need the 75 shot. To be sure. With the awd you should get out front quick and he probably won't catch you. That's where i won it. If you port and polish the heads you'll probably need bigger injectors.

you already have the cam, correct? I personally am a fan of nitrous. I am saving right now for the ZEX kit. Everybody around me who has the 5.0 in their mustangs are spraying the crap out of them with very, very ,very little else done to them. I know a guy who started spraying his at 150,000 with a 125 shot and goes to the track all the time, he probably sprays it two to three times a week, and he is now at almost 200,000 miles. These 5.0s aren't even broken in until 100,000.

My point is, the 5.0 can take it. Spray the 75-shot and kick his ass. I'll be sprayin the 75 or maybe the 100 by the end of March.

Happy Racing...

i say go nitrous all the way. better yet, Alec is selling his, and it will be all you need. Dead Link Removed

from what i can tell, most of the 360 GC's run low, low 15's stock. i can tell you now, with a cam and your other mods and a 75-100 shot of nitrous you could shame him like a 3rd grade girl. if you are running a 15.2 now, you can possibly run a 14.3-14.2 with a 100 shot of nitrous. dont worry about longevity, because unless your running a huge shot every day it will not hurt the motor. nitrous is the best bang for the buck out there, and Alec is selling his kit cheap. (not trying to pimp it, i would just like to see you get it.)

i ran a small shot on mine, mainly because no one around here knew that i had it, and i didnt want to make it obvious. to this day, no one still knows that i had it, and they all think that i run low 15's on the motor.;) get the nitrous now. its not even close to towing season yet. get the bags later on. and dont bother with a shot that small. run a 75-100. it will not hurt a thing.

i guess ive been reading too many "tuner" ricer magazines with stories of idiots blowing up their 4 bangers by spraying a larger shot of nos then they ahve displacement. If its that safe, go for it.

Go to the nearest store and tell them in your best Paul Walker voice, "I need nos, one of the big ones, no make it two, and i need em by tonite"

what exactly do i need to get in order to run a 75 shot the cheapest/safest way possible?

just the plain ole regular Zex kit. you can upgrade to the nice little add-ons later if you like, such as the bottle warmer, remote opener, etc.

This is a little off topic, but i do beleive that the 5.9 Limiteds are "awd" too. The altleast have a full time 4X4 system.

larger fuel pump, too? though i wouldnt call a bottle warmer an add-on. personally, i feel its necessary; the remote opener and maybe a window switch would be add-ons.

Glad to see your truck is back to its old self. Go for the speed! Kick that Jeepers ass!

tbomb- a larger fuel pump would be nice, but its not a necessity with a small shot. i ran mine many times before i dropped in the Lightning pump, and it did just fine.

while i also would have a bottle warmer on mine (and did), its not really a necessity with the newer Zex kits. the FMU now runs off of bottle pressure, so fuel is upped in an exact ratio to what nitrous is going in the motor. kind of ingenious, and many have said that this is just about the safest way to go.

i would still run a bottle heater, though.

I just dropped the price of my kit, one of you buy it ;)

It is already jetted for a 70 shot. You'd just have to then buy a fuel jet, but would at least save on the nitrous jet cause that's the only one I have left. They get lost easily :(

If you already have an adjustable fuel pressure regulator then the kit installs even easier, no need to up the fuel flow.

And a 75 shot or below does not require any fuel system upgrades, the stock (or whatever you've done to it) can handle the added flow for the short nitrous bursts.

i only said that cuz i thought i read that he might want a 75 shot? whatever; the informations there for him now :)

I am going to be ordering my Zex kit today right after i reply to this. I will run the 55 shot till i get my other parts to complete my supercharger setup from blk_mk8. And after that i should just have enough money for a good dyno tune after everything is done and installed. It should push close to mid/ low 400's for flywheel horsepower. i would be happy with 360 rwhp but i am thinking(hoping) it will have closer to 400 rwhp. I will find out at the dyno. Oh by the way
Expo. You can either get the zex kit from Alec or get it from the zex site for $595 (full kit). I plan on getting the polished botle. Man it should look niiice. Well cya later.

Yup, mine is still for sale!

Well just ordered the kit about 5 minutes ago. i am getting it by 2 day select air. So by next weekend i should be able to install it if things go well. Then once i get the chip and the fuel pump installed i can up it to the 100 shot.
