At least yours works- mine stopped working and was "fixed" by ford 3 times and it quit working again a couple of months after the warranty ran out.

hey how about how half of the wiper doesn't actually make contact with the glass.

I'm looking at the schematic in Haynes....(pg 12-48)

Its a pretty simple circuit. I'm guessing that the switch is the problem. You can try to verify this by looking for voltage at the switch. If Haynes is correct, white wire w/ purple stripe is the power to the switch, black w/ white stripe is switched pwr to washer, white wire is switched pwr to wiper motor. The white wire should not have power when switch is off.

If it isnt the switch, then it must be the motor itself. It is possible because power is supplied to the motor after switch is off to allow "park" of the arm. There is an internal switch that determines this, and it could be stuck in 'run' position.

Haynes says the fuse to pull is #6

Bro, yours does that too? My sis has my Ex. now, and she told me the other day "somethings wrong with your rear wiper", I was like "what?". sure enough I turn it on, and it gets half the window and totally skips the other half w/o touching it, like it just hopped the window. WTF is up with that, I had her turn it on, and when I looked at it move everything looks fine until half-way when it hops and doesn't touch the window??

How long since the wiper element has been replaced? They are supposed to be able to "flip" so that the rubber part trails behind the metal part that holds it. If they are old, it can take a set (rubber permanently deformed) so that it doesn't 'flip' the right way. This can make it skip.

The other thing to check is to make sure the wiper blade (metal holder) can pivot freely on the arm, so that it is always parallel to the glass.

I think the 91-97 rear wiper design sucks, and I tried to use a better design wiper blade on mine but it won't work on that arm so I had to go back to the original type. They used a size that is really hard to find. At least the dealer didn't charge a lot for it.

i discounected the wires from the switch and it kept going so it must be the wiper motor i guess am i correct.

Just bend the arm slightly towards the window.... quick and easy.

i had to bend mine a bit more than "slightly" to fix it.
now i get about 90% contact. i only use mine like 2 times a year though, so i don't care if it works.

Mine only hits about 30% on the left side, but I'm gonna try the "bend" thing and see how that does.

thanks for the info.

:D :D :D
