Problem starting on cold days

My explorer seems to crank a few extra times on a cold start when its below 30 degrees. After it does start, it wants to die but doesn't then the revs even out and its fine... any idea wat causes this??
 












thanks, can i eliminate any of those listed with that fact that it doesn't do it for the whole day after it warms up... it only does it on the first morning start
 






You could clean the air temperature sensor with throttle body cleaner, or contact cleaner. If you have a fuel pressure gauge, you could check your pressure on start up. Another thing to do is to use an ohmmeter to check your engine coolant temperature sensor. Here is a troubleshooting chart:
