When I hit a bump or pot hole in the road the car kind of loses control a little bit.

I'm thinking it may be shocks?

Matt,

You can "check" the shocks by "bouncing" the corners up and down by hand. Get'em bouncing really good, let go. Should settle within a bounce and a half (give or take). Also, crawl underneath and check for oil stains/leaks on the shock. A leak is a good sign of failure (or at least a compromised shock).

what you say by loose control do you mean bump steer?......if so check you alignemnt caster/camber angles.

these bumps you hit, are they hard bone jarring bumps?

mine does the same, on the highway their was a dip in the road and i didnt see it, just about roll it..

the steering wheel turned like halfway, i was zig zaging down the highway until i gained control

what is bump steer?

It's kind of like if you hit a bump at speed, the wheels will shimmy around. It's kind of scary if you hit a bump on a turn at 60MPH.

They are not bone jarring. But you can definitely feel them more than you should.

I poosed a very similar problem.......maybe caster. Come to think of it I can't even remember the last time it was aligned....tire wear looks good.....haven't thought of it! Worth a try !!!!
