Can feel every single bump in the road

My wife would be highly ticked off if I didn't get the best possible stuff the first time for the amount of money she lets me spend to fix it.

Then just get Bilsteins. Settled.

You didn't get his point: "for the amount of money she lets me spend " :D
So Bilsteins might be out of picture.
@mr cribb - if you where closer I could give you for test (or for good) the rear pair of Sensatracs that I replaced with KYB's. The Sensatracs are absolutelly the best for straight, smooth highway driving, but in sharp turns (with my speed) or at medium-hard braking (I don't drive at all eco-friendly) the monotubes are better. That is my limited experience), that I paid with my waller for).
Personally I didn't get the Bilsteins or higher-rated KYB's MonoMax because they might be TOO STIFF for my unloaded truck. Even the KYB rep agreed with me (emails) that Gas-A-Just might be better suited for rear (in my case). I think the Heavy Duty Bilstein 46mm ones are in the same position and I would get their 36mm ones...

Replacing them yourself is not a big problem and you save mad money there.

I looked up the Bilsteins.... showed the wifey the price for 4 and she said NOPE!!

It isn't that she's being mean or controlling she doesn't see the point in dropping $200 for pair of shocks on a truck that isn't worth more than $800.

I found some gabriel max controls for the back and kyb's for the front. I think this this combination will make a drastic improvement. I'm shopping ebay. So it's all about the pricing. My limit is $100-125 on shocks.

Why mix? Get them the same and not used from ebay.
The KYB outlet has free shipping for orders over 100$ and I think it has even a 5% code.

Now... I hope that your wife won't expect to ride in the Explorer like in a car :)
Other tips: Drop the pressure to the recomended 30psi (or max 32psi). When time comes to replace the tires, get some for highway, not All Terrain (of course no more off-roading then).

Monroe has also a rebate going on now ( 25$ for 4xSensa-Trac or Reflex): http://www.monroe.com/promotions

Nah my wife knows it's gonna ride rough. She knows it's a truck frame. The BFG A/T's came on it so I'm just using what it came with.I plan on gen 2 tear drop wheels and some cooper cobra gt's later on. I was looking at new shocks on ebay.

I think my tire pressure is between 32 and 35psi and the only off roading the truck sees is the gravel parking lot at work.

Thanks for the links, even though it'll prob be closer to tax time before I put shocks and new tie rod ends on it. So I'm sure the offers will be long since expired by then. But on a flip side maybe there'll be better ones by that time.

KYB outlet has the GR2 set for $103 after the 5% coupon... Thanks!!! Wifey liked that price :D
