As described in my other thread, yesterday afternoon I was driving along and my tire shredded out from under me, necesitating a replacement. When I put the spare on to drive it to the shop, I seem to have retightened the little pully that lifts the spare under the rear and now it does not lower.

HAS this EVER happened to anyone and what in the world can I do to fix it? As I am gonna stick a sub box in my car in about two weeks the spare really can't sit back there for much longer...and its making my lovely brown carpet dirty :(

Any and all help would be appreciated, thanks guys.

(Basically I turn the lever in the hole and the wire just wont move down. Kinda sucks, the shop didn't know what to do about it either)

Sounds like another case of spare tire winch that bites the dust.. Usually if you crank it too far, it'll seize up on you.. You can remove it easily. it just 3 bolts.. You can get a replacement cheap, just ask someone on the forum, I'm sure someone has one they're not using.

i am gonna remove it and try to fix it myself, lost cause or no?

and do you think an auto parts store would carry it, or no?

I have one that I could sell you if you want it. It works great.

Maybe $40 shipped?
