problem with the speedometer

Not sure if this is the right place. So if it's not sorry.
I started having a issue with me 2000 explorer sport.
The speedometer has stopped working on me a few times.
It stopped working while going down the road and at least once when I started it. It works most the time. When it stops working I found out if I stop and turned it off and back on again it will start working again. Not sure if it's from restarting the explorer or just from shifting. There is also a rubbing type of nose coming from the front and a vibration in the floor board that started about the same time.

cruise control?

The signal for the speedometer and cruise control comes from the 4WABS module. Does your cruise control work?

The cruise control does work but I haven't tried it when it doesn't read yet. Need time it doesn't read I will try to see if it works then

Happened again today so I tried the cruise control and it didn't work. Put it in n and back to d and still sat at 0. Put it in n and turned it back off and then on and started working again

Check 4WABS inputs & connectors

No cruise control means that the 4WABS module is not generating the vehicle speed signal. The 4WABS module receives signals from the rear axle sensor and the right front and left front wheel 4WABS sensors. I suggest that you check the sensors, their wiring and connectors.

You may have answered my problem too; my speedo will sometimes drop to 0 while driving. The cruise still works when it does. It usually only stays at 0 for a few seconds to a few minutes.
Do I possibly have one of the ABS sensors starting to fail or maybe dirty so the signal is degraded?
Any other ideas on what it may be?
