problems with Ford Ranger

Greetings, I have a 1986 Ranger that has set most of its life. It runs good for a while then it will over load on gas,I let up, good for a bit then all over again.
I was told I can convert it to a non electronic and would like to know if others have had this problem and how can I fix it.

94 Ranger 4.0L Wont start randomly

Sometimes it will start and sometimes it wont. it will turn over and sound fine like its ganna fire up but it just doesnt, just keeps turning over . Then if i wait a while and come back it will start up like nothings wrong. It happens almost completely radomly and i need help to figure out what it is because i dont want to waste money and throw parts at it. Any ideas would be apprictiated please!
