Ok, I am looking for an amp around 500-600 watts rms bridged. Anyways..I found a Profile California CA800 that puts out 600 watts rms bridged. Are these amps any good. I am looking to spend around the $200-$250 range. I can also get a punch 500s for just a little more than the profile amp. It is only 500 watts rms bridged but maybe a better amp? Also there is a visonik amp pretty cheap too. I don't want to buy a poor quality amp though.

I am thinking the Rockford is probably the best out of the 3? Any opinions?

from what i hear profile has very good amps for the $$$... but i could be wrong

Any other opinions? I was thinking now about going with the Profile CL800 which is 600 watts rms bridged into 4 ohms.

i would go with the rockford.. all of there amps are under rated

JBL BP600.1 is your best bet. Go on ebay and look for it... you could find them for anywhere between $140 - $200 shipped. I have one and I swear by it...

JBL amps are not that good at all. they are cheap but you get what you pay for. try mmatts or memphis audio will give you some bang. or jl is good too.

mohog, have you owned a JBL amp??? If not don't talk trash about it... I talked with close to 20 owners before I purchased mine... and all but 1 have the same opinion as snobrder, as well as myself... The JBL is underrated, well worth the bang for the buck and a great value to boot...

I was looking for inexpensive equipment for my rig and found these, did lots of research and bought them... They're a powerhouse... Their customer service is EXCELLENT, I actually had an amp go bad, but I had a new one in 9 days, that includes shipping time both ways!!!

They're made by Harmon Kardon who is well known and respected in the home audio industry...

I will however back what you're saying about jl being good stuff... mmatts I'm not farmiliar with but I hear only good things about memphis too...

I was talking to a guy at Circuity City and he even recommended me the JBL amps saying they were better than MTX's he carried. Just like heath said JBL's are powerhouse and are made by Harman who are well know for home audio, and they are the owners of Infinity Car and Home Audio.

JBL amps are ****ing awesome... the 600.1BP with do 700W RMS @ 14.4V @ 2 ohms. The person that said they suck doesn't know ****.

Profile on the other hand is horrible. It's another one of the flea market amps.

You think thats nice, I'm running the 1200.1 @ 2 ohms to a single 12"!!! Also duketter, the 600.1 can be had all over the net in your price range, and it you can bump it up by $50 to a $300 price range you can get the 1200.1!!!

don't tell me i don't know **** *******, i do beleive this is a website where people are encouraged to voice their own opinion.

Cant we all just get along

Everyone on this board has a right to his/her own opinion, if you dissagree try to do it tastefully. We're here to help not to hurt! LOL!! I sound like a lame counselor. I am about to buy the JBL 1200.1, I have heard nothing but good things about them. I have also heard that MTX's amps are tough stuff, they can handle abuse. I dont know much about the amps you suggested, but these are just a couple of other options. You can find a good name brand amp for cheap on ebay or various other web sites.

www.thezeb.com
or
www.nexxon.com

Just a couple of places to look.

Maybe because that comment is totally wrong:

"JBL amps are not that good at all. they are cheap but you get what you pay for."

They are some of the best value, if not the best value priced amp on the market. What other amp are you going to get 1400W RMS @ 2 ohms of clean power for under $250US.

JL is good... if you don't mind maying a million dollars for their products. Memphis Audio is likewise as expensive and their amps look like toasters.

Mohog... may I ask what kind of setup you are running?

i only use excellon. but i have heard memphis audio and mmatts and they are unbelievable. ok sorry about the jbl comment i didn't know i would offend the world, lol. i heard jbl in a car before and it didn't pack the power i was expecting it would but i'm also used to very very loud systems. i'm moving to cali. in 2 weeks to start building a system in a wagon and i'll be going all kenwood in that too. my explorer is going to comp. as sq and the wagon will be spl. again i didn't mean to piss everyone off.

Dont buy profile or visonik...those are trash...they will blow up. Rockford is decent but make sure you buy from an authorized dealer or you could be buying an amp that was made for the chinese market and it wont have a warranty even if it says it does. I dont know JBL very well but its probably alright. If youre going to make a choice out the three that you listed, go with the rockford. also if you are powering strictly subs with your amp then go for a mono-block not a two channel

Go with JBL, there is no question. If you need to choose between Rockford crap or JBL, its JBL all the way. They are very underrated and very inexpensive amps. Basically as a rule of thumb anything you can get from Best Buy is ****. That's right, I said it :D

Sounds like the JBL could be a good choice, but just to add to the confusion I've never had problems with any of my Profiles and never seen one in a flea market. Good midlevel amp, but will not win you any competitions. I've noticed that in retail audio and internet that profile is often available as the "budget" line and that tells me the brand is worth considering. I consider profile above visonik, boss, rockwood, crunch, lagacy, lanzar, pyle, pyramid. Could be I'm just lucky with no taste...na.

I don't know if I would put Profile above Crunch. Crunch's new line is actually quite decent looking.

Prolile amps are not bad if you manually figure out their real output. The rate themselves high by factoring in a 10 percent harmonic distortion, where as most other makers have a .1 or lower harmonic distortion. You just need to actually figure out what they are putting out. A 600rms profile probably puts out 200rms maybe. But thats still alot of power for the price they charge. Just don't take their rating at face value. And of course everyong has a eprsonnal preference so there is no point in arguing about what amp is crap or not. Guarantted the best products out there are the ones that your using at the time! lol.
