Programer $400 = 8hp. Justify

I would suspect mail order programs and dyno tweaks would have slightly different A/F.

Well, maybe yes and maybe no :) . Actually the whole reasoning for a dyno tune is to ensure the a/f ratio is actually what it should be. There is a table inside the PCM for this called " Base_Fuel_table", this table tells the PCM what the A/F ratio needs to be at certain Loads VS. RPM's( Throttle Positions in later year models).

When you dyno tune a vehicle you are basically are making sure what the vehicle is putting out at the tailpipe is the same as what it is commanding in the fuel table. If not then you go into the MAF transfer function table and adjust accordingly. You match up the MAF with this table then you have corrected adjustments for Load which has impact on spark tables and alot of other adjustments.

On stock vehicles with little or no mods a dyno tune really isn't beneficial but on a heavily modded vehicle or one with a alot of basic airflow mods then it can be helpful but still not absolutly necessary.

It's kinda like buying a tire, you can buy it and put it on and possibly everything will be fine but if you have it balanced then it will preform even better.

Now, this is just a basic quick run down on dyno tuning. There are other vairables that can come into play as well. Mods such as superchargers, Nitrous, Different MAF's, injectors and the list goes on and on can and will make for alot of other adjustments.

Thanks, Doug. :D

Now tell me something, you know the other day that I made a post specifically aimed at you that I wouldn't revel the a/f ratio on my dyno tuning because it was part my programming. You acknowledged this in a PM to me and said you understood why then. Not to be mean but why are you asking me for it now?

I will say this, if you'll look at the mail order tuning I had to go back in after he sent me that dyno run and readjust his a/f ratio because it was going lean at higher RPM's. This was because he added a Volant air intake. This also shows that a overly lean mixture can and will hurt your HP rather then help it as alot of guys beleive.

Mail Order run before retune for Volant Air intake

Thanks, Doug.
Sorry Doug, is not my intent to hassle you, will never happin again

How does your program interface with the PCM? You need to replace a chip in it? I have never done any programming or chipping to any of my cars, just curious...

Doug you there?

why dotn you regear your truck? if you have 20s there is a lot more to deal with weightwise then lack of power, it will return the vehicle to like stock performance t osay the elast.... basically it comes down to spend the $ or dont.... if you wnat more power, you have to pay for it....

A programmer plugs into the DLC port below the dash beside the hood release latch. Follow a few simple instructions and reprogram your PCM using the flash tuner. Also the tuner will download your factory program into it's memory the first time it is used and this allows you to return your vehicle to the stock programming when ever you'd like.

Using the X-calibrator you won't have to touch your PCM or even raise the hood, it's a simple plug and play installation :).

P.S. The best way for me to answer your questions is by email Bamachips@charter.net, it will get you a quicker reply as I cannot check the forums everynight.

Thanks, Doug. :)

How did you know I was considering the Xcalibrator?

after reading all these posts im still confused about chips im planning on buying a xcalibrator wut exaclty will it help? thanks
always confused ben

Yes, your right about Al having limited experience but so does everyone else? I have documented experience, dyno sheets, that my programs can give upto 10-15 horsepower and 15-25 ft/lbs of Torque AT THE WHEELS. This can equate to 20-30hp and 30-40ft/lbs tq at the flywheel, this is the figure you get from most other companies.

A chip does more then just change the way your transmission shifts. On my tuning I change both the fuel tables and spark tables to further enhance the complete RPM range, not just aiming my tuning at top end performance. Who stays at 5500-6000 rpm's while driving? I focus on the low to mid range performance and more importantly torque bands and this makes for more responsive throttle while increased driveability through out.

Also with the improved timing and spark curves this will make the engine more efficeint and therefore net a few more MPG's as well.

One of my chips or tuners is more then a $400 shift kit, people have the wrong idea from years of bad experiences with bad companies such as Jet and Hypertech and their limited improvements. I write every program for one specific vehicle and my programming cannot be used on any other.

Finally, with my products I offer this guaruntee, if you're not happy with either the performance you've gained or the customer service you've received then please return the product for a full refund, no 10% restocking fee or even shipping costs. I'm in this to make money sure but I'm more so into it to help my fellow Explorer/Ranger owners out and make a great name for my business. This isn't my day job so I don't have high overhead or any other employee's to pay, I use the profit I make to go towards my racing and other performance research.

Thanks, Doug.
WAY TO GO DOUG!!!!
