I never have any problems with my 93 explorer until I went to start it this morning. I went to start it and it wont turn over. I had new battery connector ends installed so i know its not that. My spark plugs and wires are brand new and installed with in the last year. It has like a half a tank of fuel in it. Can some one help diagnose the problem for me. The only thing that I could think of might be the battery itself doesn't have enough juice to fire the engine. When i turn the key to accessories the battery meter goes just a little past the red or dead spot on it.

When you turn the key to on ...do you listen to the sound of the fuel pump to make "click"? .
This question I do it to you right now than this weekend I had a problem similar to yours and the problem was that the motor did not start because the relay of the fuel pump was defective.

Could be the battery, a ver common problem is corrosion inside of the battery cables. Replacing the ends may not fix the problem.

I'd try boosting it or charging the battery if you aren't even sure of the state of charge...

sounds kind of like my problem...went to the store yesterday when i tried to start it to go home the truck wouldn't start...i ordered the re placement cables and i hope to have them on tomorrow night...i'll let you know how it goes.

I tried to diagnose my problem more deeper and found that Its something else then a battery problem because when i have it on accessories everything works and works fine like the power seats and windshield wipers. So I don't think its a battery problem. I have a feeling that it might be a gas leak of some sort because when trying to turn it over a couple of times theres a gas smell.

Accessories may still work even if there's a bad electrical connection. The lights, wipers, seats don't use hardly any power compared to a starter

If it doesn't crank and all and the battery and cables are good, check the solenoid on the firewall. Try running a jumper from the battery to the starter. If it cranks than it's either cable or the solenoid.

I'm in line with wood1 & marragtop:

You might love what I found with my 92 XLT 4/4 last year. Cable from the battery to the starter. I couldn't believe it myself but after thinking the starter was bad and replacing it with the same dead response the only thing left to the battery was that. Checked for 12 volts and it was there but sure enough the cable must have decayed so bad inside it just didn't have enough for the current. Trip down to Wally World and I was back and running. I'm new here for posting but have appreciated many other insights for a while by being a reader. Good Luck.
