Pros n Cons for V8 Explorers

my pos mounty

Is there any other Transfer Case that will work??
I like the Idea of 2wd 4Hi n 4Lo but would Rather
not have the Shift Sick coming thru the Floor..

You could add the BW4406 electric shift transfercase from an Expedition.
It would require losing your large gas tank and swapping in the smaller tank from a sport (2 door) model (to make room for the shift motor) and wiring up a suitable shift control module. From what I understand the shift motor can not be controlled by simply running a 12 volt source to it.

Kewl Thanx

I have researched my previous answer, and I stand corrected. The transfercase from a V6 CAN be fitted to the transmission in a V8. It has been done on a 98 back in 2003. Heres the thread:

Also, If you are interested in doing the electric shift, read this thread by V8BoatBuilder.

You have to refer to both threads for wiring information.
