Protect your expensive investment!

yea around here they get your stereo out with a sawzall and take a couple cats with them as well :(....i hate the ghetto, but im goin on a couple months and i have yet to have my car be messed with, i think the tinted windows, alarm, and faceplate cover seem to all be working quite well in conjuction!

tinted windows just provides cover for them when they do attempt to steal your stuff. but als like you im lucky i havnt had my truck messed with either. but im sure its only a matter of time as almost every car or truck has been broken into on my street. with a exception of a few whos vehicles belong to drug dealers, go figure

:Dim not sure about that, i think tinted windows is a key element in preventing theft, as it makes entry via broken window very difficult, and it conceals youre stereo from plain view you cant see i have a system at all unless you climb on my hood and look inside my windshield, and even then thats only if my cargo cover isnt over it, tinting the back windows was the most important, but tinting the front two slightly actually keeps enough light out that its difficult to see past the front seats, anyways between the tint and the face cover, i dont think anyone would jump on breaking into the ex. and the fact that my alarm will page up to 2.5 miles which is a farse as it barely works at 100yds or so...but still its only parked 50 feet from me...:D

P.S. Good call on the Z2. I love mine. Have you done the lockout upgrade to yours yet?

Thanks. I actually have a Z1 upgraded to a Z2 in another car plus this Z2 in the Explorer. Nice units. And yes...all were "properly modified" ;) during initial installation.

Pretty slick...
Nice units also

I dont think tinted windows help. I dont have tint because I want the person to walk by and see that theres nothing in there.
Plus, I had tint on my old car...they just hit it with a rock(made no sound because of the tint) and rolled down the sheet of tint/broken glass.
As for using special screws and such, most theives arent going to take the time to unscrew slotted head screws, they are just going to rip whatever they can out, so torx head screws, in my option, are a waste of time.
No matter what, they are going to get what they want, sadly.

Hello

A few years back my T-Bird got broken into. The funny thing is that they left my cheap CDN Tire stereo alone but took all of my tools. All of my CD units are cheap so they dont bother to take them.
