My RF 400.4 keeps going into protection mode. Ive noticed that after going past a certain volume it kicks in and out of protection, and does it more rapidly when volume is turn higher.
Another thing I noticed is the Voltage it does this at. Running off the alternator it will kick in and out at lower volume level then running just off my powercells.
On my front channels are on 4 Ohm load consisting of my 2 front RF T1 6x8s and the Rear are on 2 Ohms with rear 2 6x8s and 2 6x9s. The channels are not bridged, but I have 1 6x8 and 1 6x9 in parallel on each rear channel.
Could be a sign of a damaged amp?
I wouldn't doubt it because I had before, 4 6x8s on the front channel making 2 Ohm load(no bridging), and i bridged my 2 old Pioneer subs to 2 Ohms on the rear. I noticed it would cut out, but not often. Gradually its gotten worse, even on the new setup that has much less stress on the 4ch amp.
Another thing, when an amp goes into Protection, shouldn't it stay in Protection untill the amp is turned off then back on?
