Puddle lights

My 1997 Limited doesn't have puddle lights on the mirrors so I was going to fit them.

I want them to come on with the interior lights but how do you wire them so that they don't come on when the doors are shut and the interior lights are on?

My Explorer is the only Ford vehicle I've ever owned but both Chevy and Subaru have wiring for upgrade items already in place to save the expense of making multiple wiring harnesses.

It would surprise me if anyone actually made separate harnesses for each packaged rig out there, but I'm looking forward to seeing what some of the others with experience in adding to their stock rig have found.
I want to change out my non-heated/puddle light mirrors for the heated version.
