Purchased a 2000 xlt 5.0, some ?s

I had a 79 custom, loved that bronco.

I have had my 79 Bronco Ranger XLT for just over 18 years. My EX is replacing it but it's killing me to part out the 79 after all that time.

The 460 I rebuilt for it is the main reason I'm having a hard time letting it go but the D44 will be AWSOME under my EX. :D

oh wow. whats gone so far bad that you need to part it out>? mine had a big hole in the frame and some bad rot and i still wish i had just fixed it. i had a 460 and c6. could spin the 35s without trying, thing was ridiculous and equally awesome.

I think they are around $100 but I got mine for free from a buddy.

EDIT..... The Add a Leaf only took 2-3 hours to install and really help with the ride unlike shackles.

thanks for the input. hmm my shackles look pretty bad so i was using that as an excuse to go with shackles, but i too prefer a more truck like ride. maybe the add aleaf would be the way to go. or shackles and the monroe shocks... something to think about.

That's the first time I've heard of anyone here wanting a more truck-like ride, but whatever floats your boat. Run 35 PSI in your tires if you want a rougher ride.

koda2000 If i am wanting to have the rear sit up equal with the front will those Monroe shocks do the trick or will i still need to get shackles as well? (or add a leaf)

Its not a massive difference but it is noticeable that the front sits higher.

Thank you

i think we both mean heavier spring rates, like a lifted truck or an unloaded 3/4 or 1 ton truck. not soft like some smaller trucks can be. a better rear sway bar would go a long way but havent seen anything promising for a 2000 yet. just want the truck to feel more solid and less tippy when turning.

Honestly its all up to you. The add a leaf will stiffen it up a little bit, but pick it up and make it look more like a truck.

New BFG 35s....lol

I have a loaded 78 that I have been restoring so the driveline will go into that. The 79 has major rust that I don't feel like dealing with when I have a nice 78 in the garage.

35 PSI is not the same as having a stiffer spring rate. Try spending 18 years driving a lifted 78-79 Bronco or a crewcab dually then jump in an Explorer with saggy springs.

Feels like your riding on a bowl of jelly.

My shackles are in rough shape too but now I'll just get the cheaper stock replacements and have a great feeling ride.

lol is that your truck? that was my desktop background before i purchased my 79. will check around on availability of stock shackles before i go through with anything...
thinking an add a leaf, new shackles and better sway bar would make a world of difference.

Yeah, that's me in it and my 2 buddys in the red shirts...lol

Small world

Trailer pigtail - Something similar. Ford's pigtail comes with the bracket to hold the plug under the rear bumper. Some clips to hold the wire, a piece of zip-loom to cover the wires and a built-in plug cover. IDK what Ford gets for it.

You have a link/model number for the kit so I can look at it online?

The Monroe load levelers should lift the rear about equal to the front, maybe slightly higher.. Many here install them to correct the "gangsta lean" (low on driver's side due to fuel tank, driver and battery all being located on the left side) but also to help the saggy butt.
