neat. it said you have to turn the key then hit the button for a secuety measure. i don't think you can start it just by turning the key and nothing else.

Ya they are really cool..My mom has one in her 02 BMW 745i and it is a lot of fun...like a spaceship or something I don't know...anyways with hers you have to insert the electronic "key" (just a plastic block with IR output) into the hole and it recognizes the seat memories, phone numbers, radio stations, etc. then you just press the button.

i like BMW cars. they think of all the cool gagets in cars!

So if i got this push starter thing, i would HAVE to put the key in then push the button every time? I dunno if i'd wanna do this...Hmm what do u guys think should i go for it?

Most of the push button starter setups are used in race vehicles or where utility is necessary.

The button starter used on all vehicles, way back when, was done away for ease of use of the all in one ignition/starter setup.

BUT, if you want to have a button I guess a button is what it will be!

There was a setup for old trucks that had a starter push lever under the dash that had to pushed by your foot, that could be cool ?!?!?!?!?!

:us: :chug: :can: :chug: :chug: :chug: :chug:

Actually with the ones on the site i showed, it says they plug into ur cig lighter thing? I dunno i'm prolly not gonna get it, but it sounded kinda cool at the time, and cheap to do

On the universities racecar team, they have 3 racecars, and all of them have push button starters. I got the privilage of wiring the one for the Honda CRX, and its not terribly difficult. For the racecar, since pretty much the only electionic things we use are the brake lights, a couple blowers, fuel pump, and gauges, it was easy. You need to wire a switch to control the ignition, on or off. This is what your keys do. In order to do the one that JC whitney offers, you have to put your keys in and turn them to the 'on' position, that powers up your ignition and other accesories. Then the button just turns your starter on or off. With the racecars, we have different switches to control things such as blowers, fuel pump, ignition, etc. If you had the time, you could wire your car to have a switch or two to control the ignition and accesories, and then just a simple button to control the starter motor. Then you wouldn't need keys. But then if someone knew about this, and wanted to steal you X, they could do so fairly easily. On the outside of our racecars, we have a master power on/off key/switch, that must be on in order to start or run the car. Its a big red plastic key. Hope this helps a little, and it should be a lot cheaper to wire a couple switches and a button than Whitney's $70 price tag...
