This isn't a great deal of concern at the moment but I've noticed past two days on the 96 the power windows are sometimes working while the ignition was off and the key was out....trying to think what the possibilities are if maybe the ignition is going bad or what. And the power part like the cigg. lighter quit working, I've checked all the fuses and they are in good shape the cigg. lighter itself still works...the other day I had something in that socket and the thing went up and smoke and after that it hasn't worked  so..I don't know where these wires go to even trace to find the shorted wire..that is what I'm suspecting is wrong with it..Thanks!

As far as the window thing...my Mounty has that feature. Lets you roll the windows up or down without the ignition on for some amount of time as long as you don't open a door. Lighter problem. Check that wiring if the fuse didn't blow.

alrighty thank ya for the info...I'll have to try that in the ex then.

On mine the windows work after key out for about a minute or so, unless you open a door.

Check to see if they stop working immediately when you open a door.

I went out and checked, I didn't know they came with this option otherwise I wouldn't have asked, I thought maybe the ignition switch was goin out on me.

I did the same thing when I first got mine. :)

Mine does that, too. After turning the ignition off and before you open the driver's door, the windows will still work.

Are you sure it's a problem with the port itself? Or did whatever you have plugged in there just give it up on its own? You may want to check the fuse in the broken item's plug and try testing something else in the port. If the fuses in the car are good, I don't see why there'd be an issue.
