i got a new black grille for the X after the accident. i mean the main grille and 2 end pieces for around headlights, not a billet grille. it is black plastic, not chrome, and i want to make the black real shiney, so how would i go about painting it? i've painted tons of stuff before, but this is brand new and i'm wondering if i need to primer it first or not. will just a good cleaning, paint, and clearcoat be good, or does it need primer first? it does not need sanding or anything, it's perfect.

Primer can't hurt, and might depend more on the type of paint being used. And lightly scuffing the newness will help paint stick better.
