Question about lifting for 31's

I have bought me an 1994 XLT with is pretty much still in standart condition.

Whoever drove this thing before thought it would be wise to put radial GT's under it....now the darn thing is almost hanging on the ground.

I have an question :

I know 31's on some are not going to fit without an mod, but what do i need to get the 31's under it, and if i decide to raise it 4" could i go with 32's instead of 31's?

i'm getting tired driving down the street on 235/60/15's

any help would be greatly apreciated.

Btw what price range should i be expecting ?...i'm prolly not going hard-core off-road but ocassionally we go fishing and i always seem to have an tendancy of wanting to go where you can't get without an 4*4...lol

With a little fender trimming you should be able to fit 31's on a stock vehicle. If you want 32's I would sugest either one of the 2.5" lifts put out by Rancho and James Duff.

..or a 4" suspension lift by Trailmaster or Superlift(what I got), but either will set your wallet back. If you only want to be able to run larger tires and aren't really worried about suspension clearance, get a body lift. Most kits are less than $100 and are sometimes difficult, but straight forward to install(which you can do yourself). Use the search feature to find a load of info.

If I might add this sliver of advice. Go over the truck first. Check out everything to make sure it's up to snuff and in good working order. I'd take care of all the little problems and maintenance first. Then start doing any mods, unless the mod is going to override the maintenance. Like if you need shock, but are going to lift it, wait til you get the lift for the shocks. The point to this.... make sure it's going to get you from A->B before you put money into a lift or something, then it breaks down and you got no money to fix it. Not trying to tell you how to do it, just some..'been there, done that'..kind of advice. Good luck to you.
