I have got my rear doors on my 97 EB open finally. I am trying to find out what the piece is called that connects the rod from the outside handle to the door latch mechanism.

The one on the passengers side will only open from the inside due to the plastic "clip" being broken.

The drivers side will work normally but when you lock the door and you try to open it, the connecting rod from the outside handle needs to be pushed up in order for the locking mechanism to clear. Im thinking its out of adjustment and not for sure how to get the "clip" off to screw it farther up the connecting rod.
Another thing about the drivers side is the inner door handle is broken and needs to be replaced.

Neither parts I cannot find on Rockauto. Are these dealer items or is there another store I can get these from?
Or does autozone sell this stuff?

BTW, use a stubby flat blade screwdriver to open the clip. Check for broken spring remnants in the latch or door bottom.

Thanks for the Info. I was able to locate the dorman equivalent.

Heres the fix I used on the rear Drivers side door:

I can confirm the spring trick does work on the rear doors.

You need this type of spring (Worked best in my case)

I had to cut this one to size. I used a little over half of this spring.
I added the clip on one end as pictured to clip onto the hole for the latch clearing (latch hinge still clears) and I used a keyring on the other end to loop around the rod and clip.

Here is the finished product:
