For about 2 months my throw-out bearing has been making a whining noise and when the tranny is in neutral and the clutch not pressed it makes a really annoying sound that varies with the rpm's. My question is how long before the throw-out bearing stops working? It shifts normal and everything else is normal except the whining noise. Thanks for any help. :us:

I had this problem for about a year before mine went out. Maybe I'm just lucky. Maybe it's not that big of a deal.

Is it hard to get to go into 1st gear? Is shifting into second a little tricky? That's what mine felt like. It was that way for the first two years I owned the X. (The whining sound I think your hearing lasted about 10-12 months) So I thought it was normal. Then my clutch went out and I replaced the throwout bearing and now it shifts great.

Yeah it is kind of hard to shift into first and second has always been tricky to shift into as long as I have owned it( about 2 1/2 years). I plan to replace the clutch in the summer cause I am in college now and I have no time and I drive 130 miles a day to school so I just wanted to make sure it would last at least 1 more month. Thanks for your help. :us:

The throw our bearing is part of the slave cylinder...so you'd have to replace the whole piece. I recommened getting it from Ford direct. The Ford units are better then any aftermarket ones. If your pulling it out might as well do the clutch & get the flywheel resurfaced.

get the centerforce stuff

that seems to be the favorite among the mob
