My wife has a 2008 Limited with just over 9,000 miles on it. My question is when you start the truck it takes 20 to 25 seconds for the A/C to kick on. She does have the dual zone climate control on it, does anyone else's do this? I am thinking of taking it to Ford to have them look at it.

It probably takes that long becasue of how hot it is right now. You can't expect it to be cold in a second, whether it's blazing hot or not, you have to give the system time to charge up and cool down.

It cools fine, it is just the time it takes for the a/c to kick on at all. After you start the truck the a/c is in the on position but takes 20 to 25 seconds to even turn the a/c on at all. When the a/c turns on it starts cooling instantly.

so the a/c switch is turned on? but isn't on when the car starts? i wonder if maybe it's a built in delay.

can someone else with an 08 chime in?

That is what I am thinking, I don't remember it doing this when we first got it.

I assume it is auto climate control- every Ford I've had with auto climate control takes a little bit to kick on (the delay). In fact, when the car is freezing in the winter, it won't kick on until the coolant is warm and actually blows heat. My SHO's all did that.

My 2008 F150 has the auto climate control and it kicks on instantly, same with my moms 2006 Expedition Limited.

My 06 XLT A/C comes on instantly as soon as the engine starts.

my 06 eb with dual climate does the same thing- its normal.

My 07 takes about 10 seconds or less???

My Lincoln kicked on right away, my 08 Mounty takes up to about 10 seconds like somebody else memtioned.

my 06 explorer does this, esp when in the AUTO mode. normal to me. plus gives me time to open the windows and let all the hot air out of the car so the interior so the ac doesnt work as hard. but next time it does that try pushing the panel air button and turn the fan up and it should come on quicker

I'm at about the ten second mark also. You may also notice that your power windows have a slight delay in them as well. For that matter so does my sunroof.
