are body lifts really that hard to install? because Ive heard they were tough if u didnt have a hoist. So i was just wondering exactly how hard are they to install without a hoist/lift (only jack and 4 jack stands)

I have a 2nd Gen Explorer, but doubt that there is that much difference on the install. It was just time consuming and tedious work for as I was sick and also wanted to make sure it was done right. I only had a floor jack and 2 jackstands. I would recommend having some wood blocks and such.

Yep there relatively simple on these xplorers but I had to drop the gas tank on mine to get to one of the mounts. I only had some wood blocks a jack and two jack stands. you dont have to raise the truck off the ground so I didnt use my jack stands.

so do you only lift up one side at a time or what?

Yes only do one side at a time (I did mine this way, by myself, in the driveway). I left one side of bolts in (loosely) when I jacked up the opposite side though. As far as the gas tank goes I had the same problem with the same mount. I just trimmed some of the metal between the body and the frame(the thin stuff thats mounted on the body inside the rear wheel well), enough to get a wrench on the mount. I hate dropping gas tanks........

do they give you instructions for where to put the blocks, and how to install the steering extension, and etc.?

Yes they do come with instructions.
