ok i have a 97 2wd explorer. i am going to put a 3 inch spindle lift and maybe a 2 inch tt on the front. sum1 told me i could put a spring coil over kit on the rear but then sum1 said i dont have any springs on the back and i would have to do 3 inc shackles and 2 inch add a leafs. so i was just asking evryone in here for soem advice.

With 5" of lift in the front you're not gonna want to do either of those.

Your best option is to SOA (spring over axle) swap the rear axle for 5-5.5" of lift. Cheap and pretty easy.

Coilovers in the rear of an X require a lot of custom fabrication and are only necessary on extreme rockcrawlers or hardcore prerunners. The other method mentioned won't give you 5" of lift, will make the ride harsh, and is more likely to sag over time.

ok thanx man. i thought an soa and a coil over were the same thing. im still learning on lifts so sorry bout all of these posts i have put. how much do u think an soa will run and what exactl does it do?

do a search for soa... its been discussed hundreds of times on this board!
