Question on the Body Lift I'm doing this weekend

I just put the PA833 on a 2000 xlt and spent a lot of time searching the local stores for the proper bolts. I finally gave up looking and decided to install the kit without the extra bolts. The only bushings I had to drill were the front pair....And, like Sherwood said, keep a close eye on the A/C hose. Mine rubbed on a pulley and could have been a real mess if not reshaped.

That should have been the only ones. I thought the whole lift process was pretty easy. The front bumper was the biggest pain in the rear. In order to get the bumper to the right height, I had to cut a little off the bumper and snip the very front of the frame rails. There is a piece of metal at the front of the rails that gets in the way. It may be different for your Ex though. It was just a matter of holding it up and seeing whats in the way next before it finally went in.

bump

any news on that BL?

Lifted!

10 hours and a couple complications later!

Thanks Blee! Yeah, 33's with Rock Crawler Street Locks are in the future. After the wedding though... ;) I also need to get some bumper brackets for the rear. Know of anyone who might be able to make me a set?

Why not use the ones in the kit?

They weren't even close to what I need. And unfortunatly I don't have the right tools to make new ones.

Buzzard, mine's rubbing just a bit. But it looks like it's just the plastic cover that's rubbing and it's just barley rubbing. How did you go about bending it out? When I try everything it's attached to seems to move and I don't want to break anything...

All you have to do is pound the brackets flat, trim then then drill a couple holes... anyway, for the AC line just get a strong zip tie and tie it off to the frame. That will pull it far enough away from the pulley. Just check your zip ties every once in awhile to make sure they haven't broke. Been running mine that way for 4 years now.

man thats nice.. its almost like staring into the future..

cant wait to see mine with 32"s

dmasini - looks good! The back bumper is easier than the front one, once you have the right angles to cut off the top inch of the frameunder the bumper. Least that's what i had to do... I've got pics here somewhere..will find and post..

dman - we doing yours before attica?

Would love to see some pics if you got them, thanks!

Dman, Scapegoat: Thanks for the complements!

dmasini~~> Looks great!

As far as the AC lines go, I squinted my eyes, gritted my teeth, and bent the hardlines with my hands. It was pretty scary, but I was able to get about an inch of clearance.

And as far as the rear bumper goes, I fabricated the brackets from the drawing that I got from this sight. I notched the bumpers and ground on the frame just a little.

I also fabricated a skid plate using diamond plating, to go from the front crossmember to behind the bumper. I was a little worried about someone throwing a stone up and into my radiator.

I personally like the 31's. I couldn't see laying down the extra cash for new rims only to gain a couple of inches in tire diameter. I would like to have a little wider tire, but think it looks cool the way it is....... Just my opinion, of course.

Yep, just decided to do the same thing. Luckily it was just barley rubbing so everything seems to be rub-free right now.

Found that scematic as well. I just don't have the right/strong enough tools to fab it myself. Living in an apartment sucks! I'm gonna put a WTB in the For Sale section just in case someone might have an extra set. Otherwise I may have to go to a machine shop with the scematic and see what they can do for me.

If you do a search for PAExplorer's old ride (my friend bought it off him) he'se got a nice tube bumper with a skid plate I'd like to do. But, like I said, since it's fab work I'm going to end up having to get that made as well.

As far as the 31's I think they look fine as well, thanks! I got them like 2 years ago and their's still a lot of tread left. So I'm not looking to change them until I need to which will be another year at the earliest. Once I finally need new tires I may go to a bigger size, we'll see.

which kit did you use?
