Questions about gearing...

Now I have a 2wd, no lift or anything and no plans on doing so...

But today a question popped into my mind...

If you have a 4x4, and lift the truck and put the bigger tires and all that good stuff, most end up changing their gearing as well... well if you change it in the back, do you have to put the same in the front? i mean, that makes sense right?

Yes both axles have to be the same ratio. If not you will have nice problems.

yeah, okay. that's what i thought, cause then one would start moving faster then the other right? like a fat kid and small kid in the three legged bag race.

you know, when you each put a leg inside a bag and have to move as one.
 






Problems is an understatment. It would be expensive..:)
