I have a couple of questions about my 1991 explorer sport that maybe you guys might know.

1. How would you go about changing your stock headers and replacing them with new ones?

2. How would you go about changing you stock spark-plug wires and replacing them?

3. How much hourse power would a kkm intake system give me?

Thanks for any help that you guys might give me.

First I suggest getting a manual for your truck, Haynes are about $10 - $15.
1. Left manifold - Haynes manual, pg. 2A-9 Sec. 8
a. remove dipstick and bracket
b. see if power steering hose blocks removal, if so take them off and plug them up.
c. detach exhaust pipe from manifold and unbolt manifold from the cylinder head.
2. Right manifold -
a. detach heater hose bracket and disconnect the heater hose.
c. repeat step 1. c. to remove the right manifold

Spark plug wires - Haynes manual chap. 1 pg. 1-18 section 13. If you don't have a manual do them one at a time, otherwise follow the firing order on page 1-20 figure 13.16.

As far as the filter goes you'll have to believe the manufacturers specifications. If you change the headers and filter you might want to think about a cat-back exhaust system as well.

Tip - use plenty of liq. wrench on the exhaust bolts so you don't break them. And get exhaust manifold gaskets when you replace the headers so you don't start getting fumes in the cab.

Good luck!!

Nate,
Just a bit of advice, this is my opnion, and I do stand firm on it!
Replace your stock spark plugs with Bosch Plat+4's and Your stock wires with SplitFire Dual Core wires. Both together cost me $75, that was on sale. They are not cheap but I will NOT have to replace them for a VERY long time! And the added performance is great!!
Its just a sugestion.

Just about the plugs... Go with accel wires, but the universal set, and cut them, the first couple are a pain to do, but youll get the hang of it after about 3 of them.
