First of all does any one do any type of snow plowing with their Explorer. If so I would like to know the following info:
1) What engine do you have? (nay mods)
2) Any tranny mods?
3) What brand and type of plow do you use?

I am presently in a situation that may soon require me to plow some driveways and a small lot. My truck is an XLT with a 4.0, 83K and in good mechanical condition.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That amount of plowing, coupled with the large amounts of snow your area just received, would most likely mean instant death. I wouldn't plow with anything but at least a 3/4 ton pickup.

explorers are not ment to plow. you could be alright with a small driveway plow(not for signiicant amounts of snow). But if I persanally were to plow(and did not use an 3/4 ton pickup) i would go with the 5.0 awd. With the 4.0 and the 4wd there isnt enough power without pussing lots of snow plus the tranny is week. Another point is that the front suspesion will not like a full size plow(you would have to be dumb to do that) if you were plowing any real amount of snow. So if you have your heart set on the plow go with a small light duty one for your driveway.
