Have a 96 XLT , did the uppers yesterday, didn't have time or strenght to do the lowers. before I go out to the garage tonight I was wondering if anyone knew how deep I have to go into to change the lower BJ. It seems like they're right there but I'm not sure if chassis sections will separate allowing me to remove the BJ or do I have to remove the tie end rods and the entire unit housing the BJ. thx , just want to know if its a job for tonight a whole other day.

You got me confused! You should separate the spindle from the lowers to replace the uppers. I guess maybe you don't have to but its standard protocall in the books...anyway the lowers are easier then the uppers. Take the tie rods off (easy) and the spindle then you're just a snap ring away from pressing out the lowers.

Ahh so I do have to take off the tie rod ends. The last time I was in there I spent so much time on the uppers that I didn't get down to it. thanks a lot , sounds like a job for tomorrow.

Did you take any pics. by chance?

I took a few shots but on my phone cam and then I couldn't get them to the PC. Things are pretty simple down there, the hardest parts was ripping out the plastic splahs guards.
