Do your dash center vents drop down every time you hit a bump? Here's how I fixed mine in under a minute.

1. Get some female self-stick Velcro.

2. Cut a piece about 1-1.5" long and peel the paper off the back.

3. Turn the vents down as far as they will go and, if necessary clean the upper most surface of any dirt or protectant.

4. Stick the female Velcro in the center of the top of the vent. this provides just enough friction to keep the vents in place, while still allowing adjustment.

Good one, Koda!

Good one, Koda!

Thanks. It worked out so well I figured I share it. The loose vents drove me crazy. Plus I just scored a pair of pristine cruise control switches on ebay for $35 shipped (and yes I know the secret to changing the switches w/out replacing the wires). I'm quickly running out of things to fix on this truck.

.... might have to give that one a try. I cut a popsicle stick to about 1" pieces and painted it black. Stuck it in each side of the vent with the rounded ends out. Can't really be seen unless your looking or want to adjust the vent. Seems to work fine for me, but I am the only one driving my Ex so nobody really messes with them.

Just wanted to bump this great idea. Couldn't recall where I saw this tip, and Googling "Explorer Forum Dash Vents Velcro" found it.
I've been driving over 40 years, and it seems EVERY car I owned had this minor annoyance. For me it became routine to adjust the vents after releasing the parking brake. Almost seems strange to see the vents in the same position I left them. Thank you koda2000!

You are very welcome. The floppy vents always drove me nuts.
