Quick Question about Ball Joints

I tested my ball joints today to see if they would move by my hands, and they did a tiny bit. But I dont know if it moved 1/32's of and inch. How do u measure if you moved it that much, or if i would be able to move it, should i just change them? Thanks

I haven't been able to notice the movement, but I'm thinking they are bad.

From what I've heard you need to support the lower A-arm when testing this.

1/32nd of and inch ain't much.

Just had my '97 Explorer tested. With both front wheels off the floor, and a big bar levered under the tyres, both my lower ball joint went up and down 1/2 an inch. My local Ford dealer has just had loads of Explorers in to have the bottom joints done. According to Ford there should be no movement at all.
