AFAIK, no Explorer of any generation has been built from the factory with anything other than an open front differential. However, that is not to say that one cannot be installed.

Anyone have any links/info on putting a locker in a 3rd gen front end? I see lots of info on 2nd and 4th gen but mostly questions for the 3rd gen. Would love to put in an elocker.... thanks.

4th gen front diffs are the same as 3rd gen.

Thanks MrQ. Would you happen to know if the spline count is 27? It was not totally clear to me as I thought my "super" 30 Dana meant I had an upgrade to a spline count of 30 but it I think it is only 27....

Per rockauto, 3rd and 4th gens have a 27 spline Dana 30. I don't believe they are "Super" 30's.
