Heya, I recently upgraded my amp situation (had a crappy *no name* brand amp that could hardly put out 100watts rms) to a Profile AP1200 (200x2 rms, bridged at 600x1 rms @ 4 ohm) as well as a 4 ch Infinity 7540A (278x2 bridged or 111x4 all @ 4 ohms). Now, I currently have a Rockford Fosgate Punch 1 10", was originally thinking of getting 1 more, but then I stumbled across a sweet deal for a Stage 3 10".. DVC, 400rms 800max, and I started thinking. Would that be tons better for roughly $100 more than just buying a second stage 1? Im not TOTALLY sure as to how DVC subs work (I'd imagine 1 channel per coil, in my case, since its 200watts per coil, and I have a 200x2 channel amp unbridged, or 600rms bridged) and Im not only trying to get some wicked vibes with the least amount of space used, but Im also in it for the sound quality. If it rumbles but sounds like ass, I wont use it.

Basically, Im just asking if I should bother with a sub of that calibur with my setup. The Infinity is being used for my Rockford Fosgate Punch 5x7s (I love Rockford.. <--poster boy) until I can get some coin together for a set of the Power 5x7s (75rms for the Punch and I believe 100rms for the Power). Should I bridge my Profile AP1200 to 600x1 and buy the Stage 3, or would it work well enuff at 1 channel per coil, OR, should I just grab a second Stage 1. Note, these are all 10" subs. I've got a sweet box that was made for the Punch series (not the Rockford prefab though, it is custom) thats ported and such.

Thanks in advance.

Me personally I would go with the stage 3 and bridge the amp to the 600 watts. That is assuming all of your specs are correct. I did not research the equipment you were referring to. It is your decision.

Im gonna get the P3 Im sure, I just wanted to have someone say the same, really. Its like $60 more than a P1 (woo..) but I dont need a new box to accomidate 2 10s.. Heres the specs to both amps

Rockford P3 10"

Infinity 7540A

Profile AP1200

If you don't need a new box then go ahead and get the other sub. You will be spending more money than you have to. Now that I think about it. Those two subs together will sound better than the single p3 because the p3 is not that much of an upgrade from the other sub you currently have. Also with two subs you are pushing more air, unless the excursion on the p3 is just godly, which it isn't. So now that I know your plans are, I would reccomend that you buy the second sub and do not buy the amp you have listed. You want a mono amplifier. Try this Kicker here. http://www.cardomain.com/item/KIC06ZX3001

I already have both amps, which is why I mentioned them. That kicker only puts out 150 rms though? Or am I reading it wrong? I'd like to keep my cargo space, which is why I was thinking of just getting a P3. Do I have any single sub choices? If not, then I wont die if I have to get a new box. I've got a guy who'll make me custom boxes for a decent price, and he'll take my current one in as part of the payment (its one of his custom boxes, he resells them if they're still in good condition) towards the 2 10s box.

I would reccomend buying maybe a JL audio 10 w3 or something if it is in your price range. And the Kicker amp is a 300 watt rms bridged, so you were reading it wrong. You want a mono amp. It produces cleaner, deeper, and better sounding bass, just for subwoofers. If I am correct those amps you have are just component speaker amps for door speakers and stuff.

Hold on a minute. Great suggestion on the jl. The thing your wrong about is the amp. There is no difference in sq at all between bridging a multi channel amp to power a sub compared to a mono amp. The only real difference is the need to possibly upgrade the electrical system. The reason I say that is the class a-b amp(The multi channel) is going to draw more current than a class D mono.

he has no issues with running one of those amps bridged to mono for a sub.

i'd recommend a jbl gto series

they are cheap and wonderful! i've installed about 15 of them this last year.

Dang! I let the amature sounding stereo knowledge come out again! My bad, I stand corrected. Don't know what I was thinking.

Thanks for the comments so far, much appreciated!

As far as the power is concerned. I was thinking of upgrading straight to 4ga (I think the kit I bought for that crappy amp was like 10ga..) and getting a seperate battery so I can run my stereo off of it, and my winch setup. Anyone have any links to wiring a second battery? Its probably simple, but I havent actually *looked* into doing it yet, and I just wanna make sure before I figure its simple, do something stupid, and mess up.

Thanks in advance.

you will have to run an isolator unless you are runnign two of the same battery

they aren't terribly cheap- i do have an 80 amp and a 200 amp isolator both made by PAC for sale (used ones)
