I am installing a little 8" sub in my explorer, and I have a quick question. I searched forever, and couldn't find the answer. I am going to install a cheap Pioneer amp into the factory system. I would like to use the speaker level inputs. When I hook up the speaker level inputs to run the amp, will the speakers still work? Or will the amp hog all of the signal, and make the speakers not work? I know this isn't the perfect way of hooking this up, but Its all I can do for now.... Please let me know before I order the amp.

Thanks in advance

The amp uses almost no signal compared to the speakers. There will be no change to the sound level from your speakers. You will be happy with the sub woofer.

Tapping the speaker leads right after the OEM amp is fine...

I think the factory amp uses a ~2v input signal while some aftermarket subs need a ~4v input. The gain control, if available on your amp, can be used to compensate. The speaker level inputs can be used although there is sometimes more signal noise. Try to keep the amp input wires as short as possible to reduce any extra noise.
