Hi, after doing many searches on the hundreds of exhausting exhaust threads I can't seem to find a company that makes an OEM style quiet dual inlet single outlet 2.5" exhaust. I want to simply change my quiet 2.25" system to a quiet 2.5" system. I found a million companies selling catalytic converters at any size you could imagine, but not quiet mufflers.

What are some name brand muffler companies like walker etc. that I can research to see what sizes they sell?

thanks guys.

JOE

why dont you just goto napa and ask for a replacement muffler?

that sounds too easy...lol. why cant i find one online though? Napa is fine too, I'm just planning ahead and wanted to see what's out there. I dont know if Napa has the same stock muffler with 2.5" instead, even though they probably do.

their products arnt the best but advanced auto parts has a pretty nice site that you could probabally pull up different mufflers. I pulled up a ac compressor clutch for a 97 sunfire once...

Yeah I like the advance auto website, very detailed- Plus I'm friends with the commercial sales counter guy. I opened a commercial account and get a pretty good discount on certain items. The Lund windjammer was only a little cheaper through them, I got that for $73 same day delivery. My front brake disks were $110 Bendix disks, He got me them for only $37 each, brand new. As far as mufflers though, I didnt even think to try them yet, figured that was a special item and I might end up with crap. I'll see if his catalog is better than their online one.

if sound and preformance is what you're after why don't you go with a tunable muffler? Supertrapp makes them you can adjust the sound you're putting out. the only hard part about them is you gotta put it at the rear of your truck, but they make all kinds of sizes. i know a guy that has one on his 06 avalanche you can't hear the thing running...

So are you saying that I can run a straight pipe all the way back and then just end it with a supertrapp, and at the same time it will be quiet if I do it right?

I've seen it before and it did good, but check out http://www.supertrapp.com/ give em a call, see what they think.

I've seen those supertrapp mufflers before, personally I don't like them. They look like they belong on an old VW sand buggy. The one I heard sounded like one too, it was on an older car, sounded like crap and didn't look too well. Your best if thats what you want to do, is to go to a muffler shop and have a y-pipe welded in place so you can then get any single inlet muffler that you want. On my old Rodeo with a 3.1, I got a 2.5" single inlet and dual outlet for a chevy pickup. It sounded really deep, but seeing as to how I never got around to putting tailpipes on, it resonated horribly. Your idea isnt bad, but you will have a hard time finding a muffler like this that is similar to an OEM replacement. If you look on the dynomax website, you might find something similar to what your looking for. Plus, you can purchase the whole system, or the individual components from advance auto. I really do not recommend the supertrapp muffler systems. If you have a 4 door, I recommend the Dynomax 17671. It has the stock pipe attachments, but comes out as a 2.5" tailpipe, which leads me to believe that the internals are 2.5" as well. Then if you wanted to top it off with a tailpipe, the part number for that is 46909. I hope this helps.

I believe aldive says he runs a flowmaster 70 series muffler and its rather quiet and he likes it. Try that, if its not quiet enough, add a resonator to make it even quieter. Other than that, have fun finding an aftermarket quiet muffler that is not restrictive. I would think the reason you are going 2.5" is to free up some power correct?

muffler

I'ill sell you a stock v8 muffler but, I don't know the pipe size. If you'r interested pm me...
