2001 Sport Trac
Hey y'all. My name is Joey. I have had an account for a few years but I'll tell you why I'm just starting to use it.

When I was 17 years old, I worked as a bagger and eventually saved up enough money to buy my first car. I bought a 2004 Champagne colored RWD Sport Trac. I had the truck for 5 years. It went to college with me, then commercial dive school, and then went with me to my first duty station in Florida once I joined the Navy. I loved the truck, but unfortunately about 2 years ago, my wife was involved in a terrible accident and Dora the Explorer Sport Trac was sadly retired from service. Fortunately, my wife and unborn so were not hurt.

Fast forward 2.5 years.
Today I decided to make the jump and buy a new sport Trac. I drove down 3.5 hours to Tampa to look at a 2001 Estate Green colored Sport Trac XLT 4x4. I am transferring to Guantanamo Bay next year and needed a cheap vehicle to get around so my wife could take my F150 to Texas with her until the end of my tour. Well this one has a number of problems, albeit small, but the guy was only asking $2k for it and it has 126k original miles. We ended up making a deal for $1800 and I drove it back to Jacksonville. I am now the proud new owner of another sport Trac! The nostalgia is intoxicating. I miss driving it so much. I have a lot to do to get it in good shape, but I'm happy I have this site and all of you as a resource. Here's a list of the known issues that I'll be fixing over the next year.

Repair clear coat on front fenders
Replace headliner and foam on Sunroof Visor
Brake fluid flush
Radiator flush
Rear brake drums-to-rotors conversion
Repair Windshield chips (x2)
Repair back window seal (small leak)
Replace outside door handle-driver side
Install Body Mount Bushings
Replace Tires
Replace Valve Cover gaskets
Repair leather tear on driver seat
Repair/Replace lock cylinder in passenger side door

All things considered, I think I got a good deal. I have a decent vehicle that gets me from A to B and, for about another grand and a few weekends of hard work, I can have a really reliable vehicle for years to come. Tell me what y'all think!
