'92 XLT
I just bought a '92 XLT for my daughter. It has a slow leak of antifreeze at the lower transmission hose connection. This connection looks to be 3 pieces. 1. the transmission hose with a male connecter 2. A brass piece with both a male and female connecter and 3. a 1+" piece which screws into the radiator and has a female connection. It looks to be leaking at the 1+" piece. I tried tightening it but I can't get a good grip on it. No room and not the right tool. Should there be a sealant applied when it was installed? Can I safley unscrew the 1+", apply some sealant and screw it back in? Any assistance would be helpful.

when I got a new radiator for our '92 it had a leak there.. I took the Radiator back and they gave me a new one.. aparently you can't tighten the big 1" piece into the radiator.. (I didn't try and they told me I couldn't when I called them)

Mark did you install the radiator yourself or did you have a shop do it?

I am going to get a new rad soon and while I can put it in myself, I may have a shop do it, that way if it leaks or whatever I can take it back to them. On the other hand, if you want something done right you have to do it yourself.

I did it myself.. I can do an R&R of the radiator in about 30 minutes... Not including draining/filling/burping the radiator...

Just pull the belt, fan shroud.. push the fan shroud out of the way.. then pull the hoses/tranny lines.. then lift the radiator out.. isn't hard...
