My 91 Explorer has some radio problems. It cuts in and out. Used to play at full blast, then mysteriously fixed itself. Now will cut out after about a minute of play, then lock up everything on the radio. Can't change stations, scan, etc. Finally blown? Also, what was the advice on 4x4 not engaging? I press the buttons and the voltmeter does not move. Electrical problem? Think the hub seal is leaking. Lot of grease around them. Any help would be appreciated.

I lost the factory AM/FM cass on my 94. It would cut out, then one day quit takin direction from the panel. It was OK the next day. I asked for a new one on the audio page of this site. I got a good deal on another from a memeber who lived by me. He had replaced his with a good aftermarket system.

Hub seals. There is an o-ring in the auto hub to seal it to the rotor. Its a piece of junk. I'd say, get in there, clean the hub out (general maintenance), repack, then seal it back up with a bead of blue RTV where the O-ring is.

just put on warn or milemarker or superwinch aftermarket hubs that are manual (as the autos will eventually blow) and get a decent aftermarket head unit sony or pioneer or clarion or jvc or eclipse or etc.....

tada! both problems solved. hehehe:) LOL
