Hello-

Does anyone know if the local auto store carry the radio removal kit for the fords?

I tried removing my radio with a wire hanger last night but it doesn't seem like it is coming out at all.

Any tips?
Should I really buy the tools to get it out?

Thanks!

Walmart $3!

I used coat hangers, but if you can't get it with coat hanger wire, you might as well just spend the $3 at Walmart like addkev said.

Dunno if this work work but, you could take out the two screw under the radio and nudge the trim out gently. It seems like a good idea, but I've only taken my dash apart once and didn't really study it.

yes, the tool is $3 at walmart.... well under $10 anywhere else like an auto parts store...... well worth it..... i played for an hour with mine than went to walmart, got the tool, and installed my new deck in the parking lot 5 minutes later.....

Another reason I like buying from Crutchfield; they include the tool with a HU purchase.

Circuit City is another local source.

Good luck.....i

The key is to pull all 4 hanger pieces together at the same time while pulling on the radio. Squeeze the two hanger sides outwards aboiut an inch, and it should come right out.

Also, you could go into an auto wrecker, leave a deposit or some thing, and borrow their tool for 5 minutes or so.

Yes that will work too, once you remove the trim you can access the entire mechanism that holds the radio in.
