My '92 Exploder has the lamest 6" lift on it known to man. It looks good but functions like crap. I'm slowly but surely going to build a high speed dezert chaser out of it but for now here's my thoughts and question. Right now the entire lift is drop down brackets mounted to all the stock components. I'm hoping in a month or so to get a set of really nice Donahoe Extended radius arms w/heim joints similar to these made by camburg. Dead Link Removed

Right now my Exploder drives straight but rocks back and forth like a boat at highway speeds and has a bad case of the bump steers. I was told that extended radius arms would help reduce the bump steer. Is this true? Also I was told that the rocking back and forth was probably due to my caster being close to 0* instead of the factory 3* (I think). Anyone know if the extended radius arms will help with the rocking/caster problems too? It seems like they should when I think about the geometry in my head but maybe I'm seeing things wrong.
Thanks

Rocking at freeway speeds is probably more than likely a sway bar issue. If you don't have a front one, or if it was not lowered ( or doesn't have extended links) from it's factory position as part of the lift, then rocking could result. Mine is not lowered and still uses stock links with a 6 inch lift and I get rocking on the highway.

My suggestion for the bumpsteer is to get a superrunner steering system. I recently added one and it has made a HUGE difference in the way the truck drives.

hopefully that helps a little.

The rocking can also be from shocks. If you got crappy ones it will do it. My Rancho RS9000's will do the same thing on the highway if set to 1-3 if set to 4-5 they don't do that at all.

I did have dual shocks on it when I bought it and thought maybe that was the cause of the rocking so I pulled off the second one and put on a swaybar with the drop down brackets and everything. I don't really want to dump too much money into fixing it cause I plan on installing these soon. Dead Link Removed

I was hoping that maybe the radius arms may help out since I'm getting them anyways.

Superrunner steering,
I've heard about that setup. How's it work? do you have any links to pictures of trucks with it installed? How much did it run you?

I don't run it so I wouldn't know. I have never had a problem with stearing with the stock stuff though.
